Shelly Lanning, President & Co-Founder, Visana Health

Shelly Lanning has been a healthcare investor for 20+ years with a focus on early and commercial stage medical technology, healthcare service, and health/wellness companies. She has served on more than a dozen company Boards and chaired audit, compensation and clinical committees. Shelly entered the private equity world as a Kauffman Fellow with Tullis-Dickerson & Co, an early- and mid-stage focused healthcare venture capital firm. She spent the next seven years in various Senior positions on the Healthcare teams within Morgan Stanley Venture Partners and Healthcor Partners . For the past 11 years, she has continued to invest in healthcare companies via SWL Healthcare Ventures. Prior to joining the private equity industry, Shelly spent seven years working in various medical device focused roles including medical device design, manufacture and quality.

Shelly’s Board of Directors experience includes Suros Surgical (medical device acquired by Hologic), National Health Corporation (wound care provider, merged with Diversified Clinical Services), Medsite (physician recruitment/medical education, acquired by WebMD), Galil Medical (medical device acquired by BTG/now Boston Scientific), Nuvomed (medical product, acquired by Centurian Medical Products), Cleveland Home Health (healthcare service, acquired by Bios Management), Ghost Lifestyles (sports lifestyle products, present) and Marani Health (digital software platform in fetal and maternal health)
