Frequently Asked Questions
How is an Executive Mentor matched with a startup?
Our team identifies a good fit based on an executive’s experience, their specific area of expertise, and the type of guidance an entrepreneur is seeking. The program is designed to make personalized matches between experts and vetted startups.
How does the program work?
Once there is a mutual agreement on a match, a template Executive Mentorship agreement is provided to establish the relationship. The mentorship lasts for up to six months, during which time the relationship is confidential. Upon the completion of the program, the entrepreneur takes the Founders Pledge and grants the mentor 0.25% equity, which vests monthly. Entrepreneurs and mentors can then evolve into a more permanent and non-confidential relationship, with the mentor becoming a board member or other formal advisor.
What startups are eligible for the program?
Companies are eligible for the program if they are incorporated and have raised a minimum of $100,000. The entrepreneur seeking mentorship must be a full-time employee of the company. In addition, founders must be members of the Rosenman Founders Pledge.
What if I’m not a Rosenman Founders Pledge member?
Startups that are not members of the Rosenman Founders Pledge will still be considered for the program. However, the entrepreneurs must agree to take the Founders Pledge once an Executive Mentor and a startup agree to engage with each other.
Does the Rosenman Institute take equity?
We don’t take any equity. Equity goes directly to the Executive Mentors, ensuring that mentors and entrepreneurs alike are directly invested in successful growth.
