Muhammad Lila is an award-winning journalist, media founder, and strategist who leads multiplatform teams and creates content across all platforms.
As CEO and Founder of Goodable, he led the company from inception to America’s fastest growing media platform. Within eighteen months, he grew Goodable’s audience from zero to 100M+ per month, powered by innovative backend technology and a team of engineers, product leaders, and journalists. He oversees every aspect of the company, from sales to product to investor relations.
As an International Correspondent for CNN, he delivered more than 800 live reports, appearing on all CNN shows and platforms, including AC360, Amanpour, Connect the World, and the Lead with Jake Tapper. He regularly led CNN’s network-wide coverage of major global events, leading teams of journalists in Syria, Turkey, India, Japan, and more. As the lead correspondent for CNN’s Freedom Project, he went undercover to rescue teenage girls from human traffickers, leading to two weeklong series broadcast worldwide on CNN and CNN International. He has won and been nominated for the industry’s highest awards, including Emmy, SAJA, and RTNDA awards and also delivered multiple network-wide exclusive interviews with world leaders, including a personal audience with His Holiness the Dalai Lama.
At ABC, he led coverage for all of Asia, Africa, and the Middle East, filing more reports than any other correspondent. He co-led a Digital-First process to redesign the network’s approach to storytelling, transition teams to a a new style of social, immersive, and shareable content. It grew ABC from #3 to #1 in market with over 100M+ monthly video views. At CBC, he pioneered a new mobile workflow by researching, testing, and deploying cutting edge mobile tethering technology to make the CBC truly wireless for the first time ever – a workflow that was later adopted industry wide. He also became the first correspondent to live tweet from the annual Hajj pilgrimage in Mecca, and use Youtube as a tool for breaking news transmission.
In his spare time, he is an active volunteer, mentor to younger journalists and sits on the Governing Board for Centennial College, Canada’s fifth-largest institution of higher learning.
