2020
14 FDA Approvals and $119 Million in Funding
By 2019, startups in the Rosenman network had obtained 25 510(k) medical device clearances from the FDA.
Start-ups in the Rosenman network attracted $119 million in seed-stage and VC investment, highlighting the quality of leadership, potential for economic growth, and investor confidence that they could take their technologies to market.
2019
MTVP Launches; Tueo Health Acquired; and Record Numbers Attend Rosenman Symposium
MedTech Venture Partners is launched, raising $31 million for its first fund. MTVP now backs a portfolio of 10 companies.
Rosenman Innovator company Tueo Health is acquired by Apple.
More than 1100 people register for the fifth annual Rosenman Symposium, a premier event the Bay Area healthtech calendar.
2018
First Rosenman Innovator Company Acquired
Sontina Medical, a startup in the very first Rosenman Innovator cohort (2016) that was developing new instrumentation for breast biopsy, is acquired by industry leader CR Bard.
2017
First Rosenman Innovator Cohort Selected
In June 2016 we announced the first-ever Rosenman Innovator cohort. The entrepreneurs are selected from a wide field of applicants from across the globe, and chosen based on their inventive technologies and market promise. The Rosenman Innovator program is the cornerstone of the Institute today.
2016
Advisory Board Appointed and First Rosenman Scholars Arrive
In a critical move for the future, Rosenman appoints a stellar group of industry veterans to advise us on strategy and help make key connections.
In partnership with the territorial government of New South Wales, we begin hosting Australian healthtech entrepreneurs for two-year placements at our UCSF incubator. Sheridan Gho and Michael Weaver, co-founders of Cenofex Innovations, arrive to develop their smart sleeve for lymphedema.
2015
Institute Launches with Rosenman Symposium, Welcomes Engineering Interns
In June 2014, motivated to carry on the legacy of Dan Rosenman, we launched the UCSF Rosenman Institute at the inaugural Rosenman Symposium, bringing together entrepreneurs, industry, academia, clinicians, and the entire healthtech community.
We welcome five talented engineering undergraduates from Scotland’s Saltire Foundation (now Entrepreneurship Scotland), whom we placed with startups to get a taste of high-growth entrepreneurship, Bay Area-style. This program continues continues today, and draws rave reviews.
