Darrell Johnson
Darrell Johnson joined Medtronic in 2007 and serves as Vice President and General Manager for the Cardiac Rhythm and Heart Failure (CRHF) Connected Care business. Darrell has built an expertise in working within the medical device industry, identifying how wireless technologies and data systems may be applied to improve patient outcomes, decrease healthcare utilization costs, and increase provider care delivery efficiencies. His passion centers on not simply bringing technologies to market, but the successful implementation and utilization of these technologies within the entire healthcare system, including patients.
Within the Medtronic Connected Care business, Darrell is creating and driving value by delivering integrated solutions and services so that providers and payers can efficiently diagnose and manage patients living with cardiovascular disease. Under his leadership he has built a remote monitoring system that has over One Million lives being monitored across 70 countries, with strong evidence reflecting the impact to both clinical and economic outcomes. With his passion to engage and empower patients, Connected Care has introduced the industry’s only technology that enables a patient to use their personal smart device to monitor their implanted device.
Prior to joining Medtronic, Darrell worked at GE Healthcare in Milwaukee, Wisconsin for approximately eight years and held several key marketing positions. During his eight years at GE Healthcare, Darrell had several product development and product launch successes and ultimately was named General Manager of the telemetry and networking business segment within Clinical Systems. In this GM role, Darrell successfully integrated two key acquisitions and was responsible for identifying other key acquisitions and partnerships.
Darrell holds a bachelor’s degree in economics and mathematics from the University of Minnesota and an MBA from the Carlson School of Management, University of Minnesota.
