Samuel Thomas, Co-Founder & CEO, PocketRN

Dr. Samuel C Thomas is the Co-founder and Chief Medical Officer at PocketRN, a practicing board-certified internal medicine physician at Intermountain Health, and a research fellow at the Intermountain Healthcare Delivery Institute. He completed the Stanford & Intermountain fellowship in Population Health and Delivery Science where he earned a master’s degree in health policy from the Stanford School of Medicine, completed the Advanced Training Program in Clinical Quality Improvement (ATP) at Intermountain, and worked closely with world-renowned clinical and academic experts on developing novel healthcare delivery models. He also has a masters in biomedical engineering from the Bioinnovate Program at the University of Utah and is the co-founder of 4 med tech start-ups that have raised millions in venture funding and grants from the NIH and NSF.

Dr. Thomas’s clinical endeavors and scholarly pursuits revolve around a nuanced comprehension and application population health, implementation science, human-centered design, and team-based care. His research endeavors are dedicated to empowering healthcare entities and practitioners to implement innovative care delivery paradigms, thereby realizing the Quintuple Aim. Dr. Thomas’ contributions have found publication in reputable journals, including the New England Journal of Medicine, Annals of Internal Medicine, Health Management, Policy, and Innovation (HMPI), and Health Service Research. As Chief Medical Officer at PocketRN, he pioneers virtual and hybrid care models, exemplifying his commitment to innovation and excellence in healthcare.
