James is the Global Design Lead within the Disruptive Solution Design team at Evernorth Innovation and also sits within the Innovation HUB of the International Markets business at Cigna. He leverages his extensive 20+ years of expertise in human-centered design and strategy to drive front-end innovation across the enterprise. With a particular focus on developing a culture of innovation, he is changing the practice of innovation throughout Cigna by building out emerging capabilities and thoughtfully integrating new ways of thinking and doing. He also leads relationships with incubators and start-ups to drive innovation efforts across business units. Prior to joining Cigna, he spent over 10 years as a design strategy consultant collaborating with teams from the consumer goods, furniture, technology, and P&C insurance industries, before that working on Dyson’s New Product Development team in Chicago. He holds a Master of Design from the Institute of Design and a BS in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Rochester. James currently lives in outside Chicago (when not in Madrid) with his wife and two differently wired kids.
