About Nicolle Cannon

Nicolle Cannon, Founder of Cannon Quality Group, is an engineer-minded Quality Assurance professional focused on helping organizations take the fear out of quality and implementing smarter quality management systems that add value to the business.

Her journey started when she graduated from California Polytechnic State University where she received her Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering. From there, her career began as a Quality Engineer, climbing through the ranks until she became Senior Director in Quality Assurance for a large public medical device company. It was during her work as an engineer, primarily in medical device companies where she grew frustrated with quality systems and quality organizations that did not make sense for the business.

She observed plenty of quality organizations that were based on fear of the standards and regulations as well as being audited. She saw that they used this fear to create systems that hindered the business and drove the cost up and efficiency down.

Her frustration mounted as she watched great products that could be helping patients stagnate in systems that did not aid in innovation.

After years of struggling with this, she took the “if you can’t beat ‘em join ‘em approach” and left engineering to explore the world of quality management systems. She set out in this new role to create quality systems that work for the client’s products, their engineering team, as well as the business.

She founded Cannon Quality Group, LLC in 2008 with the primary focus of aiding new safe medical devices into the clinic fast so they can help improve the lives of patients. Nicolle believes that quality systems are a world of GREY, and in order to implement an effective quality system into an organization, you need to factor in product class/risk, organization size and organizational stage.

Her ideas are that there is not a one-size-fits-all solution to the quality system need, and that it is paramount to the success of the organization to implement a right-sized quality system.

Cannon Quality Group’s specialities are working with organizations of any size, from startup to public, including device manufacturers and device suppliers, providing assistance and leadership in implementing Quality System solutions. They implement and maintain systems for all different levels of complexity including Medical Device companies with Class III implantable devices to Service organizations that want to create a market advantage by obtaining an ISO certification.l
